Items required for Lab #7 Archimedes Principle
We ask you find a wooden stick, like a twig from a tree, and a tall container to hold water, like a bucket. They must meet these requirements:
- The twig is relatively straight, and have uniform thickness;
- The twig must be at least 20 cm long. Longer twig is better, but it must be able to float in the tall containter vertically, like the picture below. Find a twist tie to hold the twig, or you can use your fingers.

- If you want to use a wooden chopstick, it is okay, as long as the thickness of the chopstick gradually inceases in one way. Make sure it can float in your container vertically both ways.
- It is recommended that you mark the stick by 10 equal divisions, especially if your stick has a gradually increasing thickness. See the picture below.
